David Holland earned his Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Interior Design with honors from Auburn University, where he focused on the use of high technology in the process of design as well as traditional means such as Beaux Arts style watercolor techniques and b&w photography.  He was also part of Auburn’s Rural Studio led by the late Samuel Mockbee, gaining first hand experience in construction and responsible design.  After internships in Atlanta and San Antonio, David spent several years at a small architectural firm focused on high end residential design.  There he was the principle designer for several new and renovated homes, ranging from classical to contemporary.  It was this experience, coupled with David’s interest in environmentally responsible design, that led him to begin David Holland Architect.

David is also a decorated combat veteran from his military experience as a Special Forces ( Green Beret ) medic. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Combat Medic badge for his service in Afghanistan.  In his 20+ years of service he has treated over 3,000 patients ranging from severe trauma to those with diseases rarely seen by doctors in the United States.  His experience in Special Forces has taken him to countries such as Panama, Honduras, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Germany, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan and more.  He also spent a year in Iraq and was involved in the recovery efforts during Hurricane Katrina.  He still serves in the 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

David Holland is a Nationally Certified Architect, registered in the states of Texas and Alabama, a LEED AP and a Licensed Homebuilder. He and his wife Natalie, and two daughters live in Gadsden, Alabama.
